The Future Starts Now

For its Miami Art Week 2022 programming, the Wynwood Walls and Curators’ Goldman Global Arts (GGA) will present two shows at both GGA Galleries in the Wynwood Walls. The GGA Gallery will debut a new group show featuring the fine-art canvas works of new and previous Wynwood Walls artists.

The GGA Gallery Annex will host a solo show by artist Hebru Brantley. Herbu is an American artist known for his distinctive, narrative-driven work that revolves around his conceptualized characters. Drawing from art historical references such as Robert Colescott, Andy Warhol, Kerry James Marshall and Jean-Michel Basquiat, the work of Brantley reassesses contemporary culture and mythology through a unique lens. He utilizes his characters in a narrative output to address complex ideas around nostalgia, fear, safety, power, and hope. The color palettes, motifs, and characters themselves juxtapose this intricacy, creating an air of innocence and accessibility around his layered and multifaceted ideas.

Jessica Goldman Srebnick (curator of the Wynwood Walls) has selected a roster of global artists for 2022, both up-and-coming and established, to create new murals and sculptures in time for the international art community to descend on Miami. This year’s artist line-up will feature Shepard Fairey (United States), DULK (Spain), Bicicleta Sem Freio (Brazil), Hebru Brantley (United States), Drik the Villain (Germany), Lelin Alves (Brazil), Jessie & Katey (United States), Millo (Italy) and Mikael B. (United States).
