Center City, Philadelphia

In 1998, Goldman Properties set its sights on an area of Center City Philadelphia, just east of Broad Street between Walnut and Chestnut streets, that had been occupied by pawn shops, check cashing stores, and adult bookstores. Strategically designed with its grid system of streets and parks, the area offered a rich inventory of 19th and 20th Century architecture that was brimming with potential.

Through the creation of a Tax Increment Financing District, Goldman Properties executed a plan to resuscitate this “red light” district into a vibrant hub for the creative class.

The area has now been branded as Midtown Village or, alternatively, the Gayborhood. Our portfolio of tenants includes some of the most successful restaurants and shops in the city of Philadelphia, including El Vez, Double Knot, Sampan, Prunella, Alpen Rose, Pearl and Mary, and Van Leeuwen.
